Welcome to Sea Tribes: Our Voice, Our Coast,
and Our Culture
At Sea Tribes, we’re more than just a media initiative; we’re a platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of coastal communities, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering community education. Our mission is to empower active fishers, both indigenous and non-indigenous, along the vibrant coastline of Trivandrum, spanning from Mampally to Pozhiyoor, covering approximately 70 kilometres of pristine shoreline and encompassing over 40 coastal and marine fishing villages.
Our Story
Sea Tribes was born from a deep-seated commitment to give voice to those who often go unheard. Our team comprises passionate coastal indigenous youths, both male and female, who understand the heartbeat of our communities intimately. We recognise the invaluable knowledge and wisdom passed down through generations of fishers, and it is our honour to share their stories, struggles, and triumphs with the world.
What we do
Through our dynamic video programmes, broadcasted on the Sea Tribes YouTube Channel and the Facebook Sea Tribe media page, we bring the rich tapestry of coastal life directly to your screens. From breathtaking landscapes to the daily rhythms of fishing villages, our productions offer a window into the heart and soul of coastal living. With over 500 subscribers on our YouTube channel and a viewership exceeding 2000 for previous programmes, our reach continues to expand, connecting with audiences far beyond our immediate shores.
Our Approach
At Sea Tribes, community education and cultural preservation are at the core of everything we do. We strive to empower individuals with knowledge, skills, and resources to navigate the ever-changing landscape of coastal life sustainably. By bridging the gap between traditional wisdom and modern challenges, we aim to foster resilience, solidarity, and pride within our communities.
