We split participants into three groups. Two-day events start with a short introduction of day one, which follows ‘Focus on multimedia theory aspects/theory around using video/documentary for change’ which is session 1, an interactive session managed by Muhammad Imran, a journalist from Asianet News. This session covers more theory of what we want to make a video or a documentary with the aspects of coastal community issues, then he starts to cover script writing for multimedia (audio and video programs) in session 2 and follows a group photo session. One online session is also included in both days after lunch for media experience sharing from Jima Rose and Mary Anitta to share their experience in seatribes media and earlier experiences. Jima Rose shared the experience and the challenges while fieldwork in day one, and Mary Anitta shares her experience and again challenges in writing scripts in day 2.
After the tea break, we get into group work to write a script. With the experience of the last sessions, we gave three topics to three groups to write a short script. Meanwhile, we have a studio tour of BlueGreen’s new studio and introduce the studio equipment to participants (one group at a time).
Day 2 starts with a reflection of day 1 and an overview of day 2. Dr. Johnson Jament has started with an introduction to community-led research. Mr. Shabu Kilitthattil from Dubai hit FM had managed a topic—shortfilm making and other journalism experiences—follows hands-on training on studio recording. All participants are teaming up with 2 youths to record their combination voices. What is journalism? Journalism ethics is a deep theory session that is managed by Mr. Ravishankar, senior journalist and media person. After the online session of Mary Anitta, Romer Ignatioius has taken a practical session on video recording using mobiles and audio-video editing. After a small theoretical session on video recording, all participants split into 3 groups to shoot their videos to edit. Then take 3 videos each and edit the video and make a single edited video. After the tea break, certificates were distributed.
